Stephen + Paige| DC Memorial Engagement Session | DC/MD/VA Photographer

When watching the sunrise over the horizon, what kind of feeling does it bring you? Does it give you a sense of calm, renewal, or a fresh start? Now imagine watching the sun start its day coming up over the DC skyline. Does it stir the same feelings? It most certainly did for Paige and Stephen last Saturday as we savored in the bright pink and orange colors over the Tidal Basin in DC just before their Engagement Session started. Paige is a HUGE fan of the DC area and knew very early on after she and Stephen asked me to photograph their October wedding that she wanted her engagement photos to be in DC. Since DC on a beautiful day is bound to have tourists and locals out and about, we decided that sunrise was going to be the best time to avoid traffic and all the people. Paige's mom even joined us as an extra set of eyes to make sure clothes were straightened out and our chauffeur for the morning. And to top it off, she blessed our bellies with delicious coffee cake for the ride home.

Being with Paige and Stephen, you automatically get a sense of peace. That is just their personalities. Having only dated for a few months prior to engagement, in the words of Paige "when you know, you just know who your person is." Paige and Stephen met at church earlier this year and a week later, were serious about pursuing a relationship with one another. Stephen loves how Paige keeps him accountable and keeps his head level and Paige loves Stephens fun-loving nature and how he is so respectful of her and makes her feel so loved and cherished. Stephen pushes Paige out of her comfort zone with his fun personality and she pushes him to see the bigger picture when they find themselves in certain situations. But even with all of their differences, they are incredibly alike in how they think and what they want their future to look like. They recall the late night phone calls and days spent walking around town talking about all the important things. Time is not something to waste so they knew that having those important topics of conversation were priority. And those long talks and walks gave them both a sense that maybe the other person is who God designed them spend their life with. To fill the cracks that the other was missing. And they found love and respect in each other.

These lovebirds are getting married in October at the DC LDS Temple with a fun celebration and ring exchange to follow at Howard County Conservancy. There is going to be so much love and joy on their special day and I cannot wait to savor in it with them!

Also, 10/10 recommend DC at sunrise - it's purely magical! In the meantime, enjoy some favorites from our time together in DC.
